News2006-09-25 General assembly of the Banknote Printers’ Conference (BPC) – Krakow 2006 Delegates from 20 European countries and observers from the European Central Bank and from Venezuela and Hong-Kong attended the conference at the invitation of National Bank of Poland and Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych S.A. (PWPW S.A.). The Banknote Printers’ Conference (BCP) was established in 1948. It is an organisation assembling central banks of European countries together with the banknote printers enjoying the status of public institutions and with the seat situated in the territory the country. Poland was one of the founding members of BCP in 1948. After years of the lack of activity it rejoined the Conference in the year 2000. Currently BPC consists of 22 European national delegations. The organisation is based on cooperation of technical commissions and on plenary meetings, which are held every two years, each year in a different member country. The main aim of the Conference is the cooperation and sharing information concerning technical development in banknote printing and servicing banknote circulation. This year on the General Assembly of BPC Poland was represented by Mariusz Mastalerz (Director of the Cash and Issue Department of National Bank of Poland), Alicja Dukaczewska(head of the International Section of the Cash and Issue Department of National Bank of Poland) and Andrzej Bogun and Jerzy Dziemidowicz from PWPW S.A. During this year’s conference a decision was made to change the name of the conference to European Banknote Conference.
